How to haul equipment, sheds and containers

Skid steers, compact tractors, UTVs, sheds and shipping containers all go on our 22' deckover. Here's how to load and secure them.

01
Right trailer
Deckover

Use the deckover for anything wide

The deck sits above the wheels, so you get a flat 8.5' x 22' surface with no fenders in the way. It carries up to 9,550 lb and has a hydraulic tilt and a 12,000 lb winch. If your load is wider than 7', this is the one.

02
Loading
Tilt and load

Tilt the deck, then drive or winch on

Park on flat, firm ground and tilt the deck down with the hydraulics. Drive the machine on slowly and straight, or hook the winch to it if it doesn't run. For sheds and containers, the tilt lets you slide the load on with a forklift, tow truck or rollback.

03
Balance
Weight forward

Put the heavy end toward the truck

Center the load side to side and set it slightly ahead of the trailer's wheels. On a skid steer, that usually means the engine end forward. Weight too far back makes the trailer sway, and weight too far forward overloads your truck's rear axle.

04
Tie-downs
Four corners

Tie down all four corners

Heavy-duty straps come with the deckover. Use at least four, one at each corner, pulling out and away from the load so it can't slide any direction. For heavy steel machines, add chains and binders to your booking for $24.99.

05
Machines
Buckets down

Lower the bucket and use the tie-down points

Set buckets, forks and arms flat on the deck and shut the machine off. Most skid steers and tractors have marked tie-down loops. Use those or the main frame, never steps, lights, bumpers or hydraulic lines.

Sheds and containers
Big boxes

Sheds and containers need straps over the top

Run straps over the top and down to the trailer on both sides, front and back. Use corner protectors or a folded towel so straps don't cut into the shed. A standard 20' shipping container (about 5,000 lb empty) fits the deck. Tall loads catch wind, so take it slow on the freeway.

FAQ

What people ask us before hauling equipment.

How many tie-downs do I need?

At least four, one at each corner. Add more for heavy machines or anything with attachments that could shift.

Chains or straps?

The included heavy-duty straps work for sheds, containers, UTVs and lighter equipment. For heavy steel machines, chains and binders grip better and won't stretch. Add them to your booking for $24.99.

How heavy can my load be?

Up to 9,550 lb on the deckover. Check your machine's operating weight (it's on the spec plate) and add any attachments. For equipment loads, tow with a 3/4-ton truck or bigger.

Will a shipping container fit?

A standard 20' container fits the 22' deck, and at about 5,000 lb empty it's well under the limit. 40' containers are too long. If yours is loaded, call us first.

Not sure it'll fit?

Send us the make and model or the dimensions and we'll tell you if the deckover is the right call.
